Alison Cerutti

Alison Conte Cerutti, born on December 7, 1985, in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil, is a highly decorated beach volleyball player. Known by his nickname “Mammoth” due to his blocking prowess, Cerutti transitioned from indoor volleyball at age 16, becoming a training partner for José Loiola. His professional career began in 2006 on the FIVB World Tour. Over two decades, Cerutti established himself as one of the sport’s most dominant figures. He has earned two Olympic medals (gold in 2016, silver in 2012) and two FIVB World Championship titles (2011, 2015). Alison has played with notable partners such as Emanuel Rego, Harley Marques, Bruno Oscar Schmidt, Álvaro Morais Filho, and Guto Carvalhaes, consistently achieving high-level results throughout his career.

Cerutti’s career is marked by consistent performance and major victories. In 2009, partnering with Harley Marques, he became a World Tour Champion. His partnership with Emanuel Rego in 2010–2013 led to significant success, including a World Championship gold in 2011, a World Tour Championship, and a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics. Following this, he teamed up with Bruno Oscar Schmidt in 2014, leading to another period of dominance. This partnership secured a World Championship gold in 2015, another World Tour Championship, and culminated in a gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in front of his home crowd. These achievements underscore his sustained presence at the top of the sport.

After his successful partnership with Bruno Oscar Schmidt concluded in 2018, Cerutti continued to compete, playing with André Loyola Stein and later with Álvaro Morais Filho. With Filho, he competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing 5th. Since 2021, he has partnered with Guto Carvalhaes, continuing to compete at a professional level. Having announced his retirement in July 2025, Cerutti’s career will conclude with a few domestic events in Brazil and the United States, ending in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, a significant location in his career.
