Annemiek van Vleuten is a celebrated Dutch professional road racing cyclist whose illustrious career has made her a prominent figure in women’s cycling. She began her professional journey with the DSB Bank–Nederland bloeit team in 2009, quickly establishing herself as a formidable competitor. Her first major victory came in 2010 at the Novilon Eurocup Ronde van Drenthe, followed by a win at La Route de France, showcasing her potential and determination.
In 2016, van Vleuten joined the Orica–AIS team, where she faced a significant challenge during the Olympic Games, suffering a severe crash while leading the road race. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, she returned to competition just a month later, winning the Belgium Tour. Her tenure with Orica–AIS was marked by numerous accolades, including her first world championship title in the time trial in 2017 and a stellar performance in 2018, where she won the Giro Rosa and defended her world title.
