Chip Kelly achieved national prominence as the offensive coordinator and later head coach at the University of Oregon, leading the Ducks to a 46-7 overall record from 2009 to 2012. Kelly began his extensive coaching career in 1990 at Columbia University, undertaking various assistant roles at Columbia, New Hampshire, and Johns Hopkins. He rose to offensive coordinator at his alma mater, New Hampshire, in 1999, where he established his reputation for innovative offensive schemes, consistently ranking the Wildcats’ offense among the nation’s best during his tenure. As Head Coach at Oregon, Kelly guided the team to three consecutive Pac-10/Pac-12 Conference championships and four BCS Bowl appearances, including the 2011 BCS National Championship Game.
He returned to collegiate head coaching in 2018 with UCLA, where he guided the Bruins through the 2024 season. During his tenure, Kelly led the Bruins to a 35-34 record and significant offensive improvements, notably setting a school record for total yards per game in 2022, underscoring his continued impact on offensive strategy. Transitioning back to a coordinator role, Kelly joined Ohio State in 2024 as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, contributing to the team’s CFP National Championship win in the same year. He continued his diverse coaching journey by moving to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025, where he serves as offensive coordinator, bringing his proven track record of innovative offensive play-calling to the professional ranks.
