About

Clint N’Dumba Capela was born on May 18, 1994, in Geneva, Switzerland. Raised by his mother after his parents separated, he initially played soccer. At 13, his height led his brother to suggest basketball, and an encounter with Swiss basketball icon Thabo Sefolosha solidified his interest. At 15, he was scouted at the European Junior Championships and subsequently joined the INSEP training center in France, marking the start of his professional basketball journey.

Capela began his professional career in 2012 with Élan Chalon of the LNB Pro A. Over two seasons, he developed into a notable talent, earning the Pro A Best Young Player and Most Improved Player awards in 2014. His performance led to his declaration for the NBA draft, where he was selected 25th overall by the Houston Rockets in 2014. He signed with the Rockets in July 2014 and spent parts of his rookie season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA Development League, gaining valuable experience.

His career advanced significantly with the Houston Rockets, where he established himself as a key defensive player and rebounder. A highlight of his career came in the 2017-18 season, leading the league in field goal percentage. In 2020, Capela was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, where he continued to excel, leading the NBA in rebounding during the 2020-21 season. He made his first career triple-double with the Hawks in January 2021, demonstrating his multifaceted impact on the court.
