About

Daniel Tosh was born on May 29, 1975, in Boppard, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany, to American parents. He grew up in Titusville, Florida, and graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1996 with a marketing degree. Tosh then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. He began touring the comedy club circuit, making his initial television appearance at the 1998 Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. His career gained significant momentum in 2001 after a performance on the “Late Show with David Letterman.” Following this, he appeared on programs such as “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” In 2003, he received his own 30-minute special on Comedy Central Presents, further solidifying his presence in the comedy landscape.

From 2009 to 2020, Tosh hosted the Comedy Central series “Tosh.0,” a show that gained popularity by featuring viral internet video clips complemented by his comedic commentary. During this period, he also embarked on multiple successful comedy tours, including “Tosh Tour Twenty Ten” (2010), “Tosh Tour On Ice” (2011), “Tosh Tour Twenty Twelve” (2012), “Tosh Tour June Gloom” (2013), and “The Great Nor’easter Tour” (2015). In 2012, he became an executive producer and voice actor for the animated sitcom “Brickleberry,” where he voiced the character Malloy across 36 episodes until the show’s conclusion in 2015. His stand-up specials, such as “Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious” (2007) and “Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts” (2011), were well-received, with “Happy Thoughts” drawing 3.25 million viewers upon its premiere.

In 2013, Forbes estimated his net worth at $11 million, recognizing his success through stand-up ticket sales. He continued to perform sold-out shows, demonstrating his consistent appeal. More recently, in November 2023, he launched the “Tosh Show” podcast and YouTube series, continuing to engage audiences with his comedic style. Throughout his career, Tosh has also been involved in philanthropic efforts, participating in shows for various charities and the families of fellow comedians.
