Daniela Maier

Daniela Maier was born on March 4, 1996, in Furtwangen, Germany. Her career in freestyle skiing began with notable success at a young age. She competed at the 2015 FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships, where she secured a silver medal in the ski cross event. This early achievement highlighted her potential in the sport and marked a significant milestone in her burgeoning career.

Maier has maintained an active presence in the World Cup circuit, participating in six seasons from 2016-2017 and 2019-present. During this period, she has competed in 66 individual starts, achieving 9 individual podium finishes and 1 individual win. Her consistent performance placed her 28th overall in the 2020 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup and 7th in ski cross for the same year, demonstrating her sustained competitiveness at the elite level.

A significant turning point in Maier’s career came at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Initially placed fourth in the ski cross final, a subsequent review and agreement by the Court of Arbitration for Sport led to her being awarded a bronze medal, shared with Fanny Smith. This resolution in December 2022 solidified her position as an Olympic medalist, marking a career highlight and an official recognition of her performance on the world’s biggest stage.
