David L. Bach was born in Oakland, California, in 1966. He commenced his financial career at Morgan Stanley, where he held the position of Senior Vice President and was a partner of The Bach Group, managing a portfolio exceeding half a billion dollars. This early experience in significant wealth management laid the foundation for his future endeavors in financial education. Bach’s interest in finance began in childhood, with his grandmother Rose Bach teaching him to buy his first share of stock in McDonald’s at age seven. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences and Communication from the University of Southern California in 1990 and was honored as a distinguished alumnus by USC in 2010.
Transitioning from a practicing financial advisor, Bach dedicated himself to writing, speaking, and building his financial education brand, leaving Morgan Stanley in 2001. He founded FinishRich.com and FinishRich Media to disseminate his financial education content, including books and seminars. Bach is the author of 13 books, with over seven million copies in print. Twelve of his books have achieved national bestseller status, including ten consecutive New York Times bestsellers, with “The Automatic Millionaire” and “Start Late, Finish Rich” reaching #1 on the New York Times list. His most recent book, “The Latte Factor” (2019), appeared simultaneously on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists.
In 2016, Bach co-founded AE Wealth Management, where he has been instrumental in advisor and investor education. As Director of Investor and Financial Advisor Education, he oversaw the firm’s educational content, training, and investor outreach programs. Under his guidance, AE Wealth Management grew substantially, amassing over $5 billion in total platform assets by late 2018, establishing itself as one of the fastest-growing RIAs in the United States. Bach has also appeared on numerous nationally syndicated television shows, including Weekend Today, CNN’s Larry King Live, Live with Regis and Kelly, The View, CBS’s Early Show, ABC News, Good Money, Fox News, and CNBC.
