Dillon Carmichael was born on November 8, 1993, in Burgin, Kentucky, growing up within a musical family that included his uncles, country singers John Michael Montgomery and Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry. He began playing guitar at age twelve and participated in local talent shows. At age 17, Carmichael was approached by a representative from The Song Factory publishing company, which led him to move to Nashville, Tennessee, after high school graduation to further his career in music. He signed with Riser House Entertainment in 2017, releasing his debut single, “Dancing Away With My Heart” and his debut album, “Hell on an Angel” in 2018, produced by Dave Cobb. This album was described by Rolling Stone Country as featuring his “signature booming baritone vocals and a sonic blend that mixes the hard-nosed Outlaw country with the melodic edge of Southern rock.”
Carmichael continued to build his career with significant milestones, including his Grand Ole Opry debut on August 21, 2018, having previously worked there as a security guard from 2015 to 2016. In 2020, he charted on Country Airplay with his single “I Do for You” reaching number 40. He released the “Hot Beer” EP in 2021, which included the title single. Later that year, Carmichael released his second album, “Son of A,” which featured fourteen tracks including compositions from Michael Hardy and Ashley Gorley, and songs co-written with Jessi Alexander and David Lee Murphy. Throughout his career, Carmichael has performed at numerous festivals and toured with established acts such as Brooks & Dunn and Lynyrd Skynyrd, solidifying his presence in the country music scene. His album “Keepin’ Country Alive” is scheduled for release in June 2025.
