Gerry Dee is one of the most highly regarded stand-up comedians in Canada, while he is also an acclaimed comic actor. Dee has worked in a variety of mediums as a comedian, and also wrote and starred in the CBC sitcom Mr. D. In recent years, Dee was notable for a appearing in the reality series Last Comic Standing, in which he placed third in the fifth season.
A veteran of several specials on The Comedy Network in Canada, Dee has also performed several times at the world-renowned Montreal Just for Laughs International Comedy Festival. He has also appeared in several TV commercials, and at a multitude of comedy clubs all over the world.
Dee was also notable for appearing in at the 2006 comedy film Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, and has been a regular contributor to the Canadian cable channel The Score. His work was also recognised in 2008 when he won a Canadian Comedy Award in the Best Male Stand-Up comic category.
Dee’s growing at profile in mainstream television was recognised in July, 2019, when it was announced that Dee would act as the new host of Family Feud Canada. Doubleday Canada had previously published Dee’s Teaching: It’s Harder Than It Looks, based on his 10 years working as a teacher before becoming a comedian.
Dee was also the first Canadian ever to win the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition.
