Hailey Van Lith was born on September 9, 2001, in Wenatchee, Washington. She developed her basketball skills under her father’s guidance, training several nights a week and modeling her game after Diana Taurasi. During her high school career at Cashmere High School, Van Lith quickly established herself as a standout player. She made her debut in November 2016, scoring 14 points, and consistently led her team to top finishes. As a freshman, she averaged 24.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 steals per game, earning AP Class 1A All-State first-team honors. In her sophomore year, she achieved the program’s first quadruple-double with 37 points, 14 steals, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in January 2018. She concluded her high school career as the all-time leading scorer in Washington state history, a record she broke in February 2020 by scoring 46 points in a game.
Van Lith was a top-ranked recruit, rated as the No. 7 overall prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz for the Class of 2020. She committed to Louisville in November 2019, where she played for three seasons. As a freshman in the 2020–21 season, she started all 30 games, averaging 11.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, helping Louisville reach the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. Her performance continued to grow, earning first-team All-ACC honors in both 2022 and 2023. She transitioned to LSU for the 2023–24 season and then to TCU for the 2024–25 season, where she made history by becoming the first player to win both Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year in the same season, leading TCU to its first Big 12 regular season and tournament titles. She was drafted by the Chicago Sky as the 11th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Beyond collegiate play, Van Lith has an accomplished international career. She earned two gold medals with the United States youth national team. In 3×3 basketball, she has achieved significant success, including a gold medal at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, an MVP award at the 2019 FIBA 3×3 Under-18 World Cup, a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. These achievements highlight her versatility and impact on both traditional and 3×3 basketball stages.
