Jennifer Dohee Im was born on September 22, 1990, in Los Angeles, California. Her parents, originally from South Korea, instilled in her a connection to her heritage. After attending community college, Im pursued higher education at the University of California, Davis, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies in 2013.
Im began her career in digital media in 2010 by co-founding the YouTube channel, “ClothesEncounters,” with Sarah Chu. The channel focused on affordable fashion and quickly gained a following. After Chu’s departure in 2011, Im continued to develop the channel, which evolved into a prominent platform for beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content, ultimately reaching millions of subscribers. Her influence in the fashion industry was acknowledged by Forbes, which identified her as one of the top influencers in fashion in 2017. Her YouTube channel has accumulated over 360 million views.
In August 2017, Im expanded her entrepreneurial endeavors by launching her own clothing line, Eggie. The brand incorporated elements of her Korean heritage and offered gender-neutral clothing items. Eggie experienced immediate success, with its initial online release selling out within minutes. The brand continued to release new collections periodically until July 2021, when Im announced its closure to focus on new personal priorities.
