Julian J.R. Jackson’s career began at an early age with a strong work ethic. At just 17, prior to attending college, he secured a marketing and events internship at VIBE Magazine. This initial three-month position extended into a year-long experience, providing him with early exposure to business, marketing, and communications. During this period, he was instrumental in arranging the first online podcast to be broadcast directly from the web to MTV, marking an early milestone in online media distribution. This practical experience, combined with his college education, laid the foundation for developing his personal brand.
Over the next ten years, Jackson established a presence in online sports media. He developed online strategies for various celebrities and brands, including legendary music icon DJ Grandmaster Flash, Capital One, and Madison Square Garden. His work in online distribution and marketing led to partnerships and sponsorships with companies such as Mountain Dew, Degree Men, Chevy, AT&T, and Arby’s. Jackson’s efforts resulted in accumulating over 70 million video views, attracting the attention of major media outlets.
His career progression led him to become the youngest contributor to HLN TV (formerly CNN Headline News), where he reports on sports and popular culture. He also serves as a contributor to CBS Sports Television and his JRSportBrief content is published by the NY Daily News. With 1,560 episodes, 74 million views, and 100,000 subscribers, his platform, JRSportBrief, has grown significantly. He hosts “The JR SportBrief Show on CBS Sports Radio,” broadcast on over 300 stations across North America. He has covered major sporting events like multiple Olympic Games, Super Bowls, and Final Fours, and has interviewed prominent figures such as Pelé, Usain Bolt, Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart, and the late Kobe Bryant. Jackson also holds roles as a host and contributor for WFAN Radio in New York City, 92.9 The Game & V-103 in Atlanta, and NBA TV. He is currently working on launching the SportBrief Network globally to distribute sports opinions from various public figures.
