Lance Moore

Lance Andrew Moore was born on August 31, 1983, in Westerville, Ohio. He played college football for the University of Toledo from 2001 to 2004, where he compiled 2,776 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns on 222 receptions over 50 career games. Moore also contributed significantly in special teams, accumulating 902 kick return yards and 399 punt return yards, including two punt returns for touchdowns. During his senior year at Westerville South High School, Moore set state records for receptions with 103 and touchdown catches with 24. At Toledo, he was twice elected as a first-team All-Mid American Conference player and gained over 1,000 yards twice, setting a school single-season record with 14 touchdown receptions.

Moore’s professional career began when he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns in April 2005. He later joined the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad. In 2006, he played for the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe, a league where players from NFL teams gained experience. He then made his debut on the Saints’ active roster, appearing in six games during the 2006 NFL season. His career highlights with the Saints include a Super Bowl XLIV championship in 2009. He achieved his best professional season in 2008, recording 79 receptions for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2012, he had a career-high 1,041 receiving yards with six touchdowns.

After eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Moore was released in March 2014. He then signed a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers in March 2014, followed by a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions in May 2015. His NFL career concluded when he signed with the Atlanta Falcons in August 2016 and announced his retirement three days later. On May 30, 2017, Moore signed a one-day contract to officially retire as a New Orleans Saint, cementing his legacy with the organization where he achieved significant success.
