Born in Cameroon, Lee Litumbe moved to America at the age of nine. In 2014, while experiencing a quarter-life crisis and working in an unsatisfying corporate finance job, she launched her travel blog, Spirited Pursuit, during a trip to Costa Rica. Although initially contemplating between travel and interior design, she chose travel to share her passion and unique perspective. Her blog quickly became a platform to document her journeys and cultural observations.
In 2017, Litumbe made a significant career move, relocating to Dakar, Senegal, in West Africa. This decision involved leaving her corporate position and dedicating herself full-time to building her business and brand as a creative entrepreneur. Her goal was to provide an authentic and inspired representation of Africa, aiming to counter existing narratives and encourage more Africans to share their stories. Through Spirited Pursuit, she curates content that not only inspires but also provides practical information for travelers interested in exploring the continent. She has since expanded her work to include curating coffee table books focused on African culture and art, collecting over 20 such books since late 2019, emphasizing intentional curation around African artists and creativity. Litumbe also founded EluwaStudio.com and offers content creation guides.
Litumbe’s work spans photography, cultural curation, and content creation, with a strong focus on African cities and history. She draws inspiration from African photographers like Malick Sidibé, Seydou Keïta, and Sory Sanlé, appreciating their ingenuity in documenting communities before the internet era. Her travels have taken her across Africa, including highlights from Zanzibar, Lamu Island, Deadvlei in Namibia, Serengeti National Park, Victoria Falls, Sine Saloum, and Lake Retba in Senegal, as well as international destinations like Turks & Caicos and California. She actively shares guides for planning trips to Africa, covering various cities and offering practical advice for exploring the continent.
