English professional rugby union star Luke Cowan-Dickie plays for Exeter Chiefs in the English Premiership. He can play prop but primarily plays as a hooker.
In pre-World Cup matches against Wales and Ireland, Cowan-Dickie scored his first tries for the England national team. He replaced Jamie George in the second half of the World Cup championship match when England were defeated by South Africa to take second place. Following that World Cup, in the 2020 Six Nations Championship, England won after Cowan-Dickie scored a try against Ireland. Later that year, he contributed to England’s victory against France in the Autumn Nations Cup final by scoring a try.
Cowan-Dickie was selected for the team that traveled to South Africa in 2021 with the British & Irish Lions. He came off the bench in the 14-56 triumph over the Sigma Lions to make his debut. After that, he participated in games on the trip against the Cell C Sharks and South Africa ‘A’. He scored his first try of the tour during the Lions’ game against the Stormers, winning Player of the Match honours. In the first Test against South Africa, Cowan-Dickie made his Lions test debut, scoring the team’s lone try in a 17-22 victory. He was also in the starting lineup for the 27-9 defeat in the second test. For the last test, Welsh hooker Ken Owens started in place of Cowan-Dickie, who was a reserve. South Africa took the series 2-1 thanks to a narrow victory of 19-16.
