Mark Bright is a British sports pundit, coach and former professional footballer. Bright is widely recognised on BBC, British Eurosport and Al Jazeera. Bright is a coach at Crystal Palace, following an 18-year career in the Football League, during which time he played for Crystal Palace amongst other competitive teams including Leicester City, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic.
Bright made the progression from non-league when he signed to Port Vale in 1981. Bright played for Port Vale for three years, before moving to Leicester City, where his profile rose to recognition. Following his time playing for Leicester City, he transferred to Crystal Palace, where he enjoyed great success and made his name as a talented and competitive footballer. Bright scored an impressive 92 goals over the next six years for Crystal Palace and earned the Golden Boot for the highest scorer in the division with 24 goals (1987-1988).
In 1992, Bright joined Sheffield Wednesday and played for the club for five years, during which time he finished as the club’s top-scorer for three consecutive seasons and became Sheffield Wednesday’s highest scorer with 19 goals (1993-1994). Since retiring from professional football, Bright has enjoyed a successful media and television career as well as coaching at Crystal Palace. Bright has worked on several shows as a correspondent, including The Big Breakfast, Football Focus, Match of the Day and BBC London News.
