Mason Gooding

Mason Gooding was born on November 14, 1996, in Los Angeles, California, to Sara Kapfer and Cuba Gooding Jr. He attended Windward High School in California, graduating in 2015, where he played varsity football for four years. Following high school, Gooding initially pursued higher education at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, studying dramatic writing and psychology. He made the decision to leave during his junior year to dedicate himself fully to his acting career.

Gooding began his professional acting career in 2017, securing representation and landing roles. His early work included a recurring role as Parker Jones in the HBO dramedy ‘Ballers’ in 2018. The same year, he earned a significant film role in ‘Booksmart,’ Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut, where he co-starred. In 2019, Gooding was cast as Andrew Spencer in ‘Love, Victor,’ a standout role in the teen drama series that premiered on Hulu in 2020 and continued until 2022 across 21 episodes. He additionally appeared in the Netflix Christmas-themed romantic comedy ‘Let It Snow’ in 2019.

Throughout his career, Gooding has consistently broadened his acting portfolio across various genres. In 2020, he had roles in Freeform’s ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Okay’ and ‘Star Trek: Picard’. A notable achievement in his film career is his portrayal of Chad Meeks-Martin in the ‘Scream’ film franchise, beginning with ‘Scream’ in 2022 and reprising the role in ‘Scream VI’ (2023).
