Nimai Delgado has established himself as a prominent figure in vegan bodybuilding, utilizing his unique background to advocate for plant-based nutrition in fitness.
Nimai is launching a website entitled veganfitness.com. This website serves as a platform for his vegan fitness and lifestyle advocacy.
Nimai hosts a podcast interviewing plant-based athletes and advocates called Generation V.
Nimai stars in a film, The Game Changers, directed by Louie Psihoyos and executive produced by James Cameron. This film follows plant-based elite athletes, soldiers, scientists, and everyday people globally, challenging the notion that meat is essential for strength and health. The film premiered worldwide in 2019.
Nimai Delgado was born and raised in Mississippi by Argentinian-immigrant Hare Krishna parents. He was vegetarian from birth due to religious reasons and has never consumed meat. His upbringing instilled in him a strong sense of compassion. Initially, his diet was approximately 95% vegan, with the inclusion of some dairy products. This dietary and cultural background often led him to feel like an outsider during his childhood in southern Mississippi, yet he consistently adhered to his beliefs.
In 2015, Nimai transitioned to a fully vegan diet, eliminating all dairy, eggs, and other animal products. This shift was motivated by a desire to pursue the healthiest possible lifestyle, primarily based on unprocessed, plant-based foods. He also aimed to raise awareness about the health and environmental benefits of a vegan lifestyle. Delgado quickly observed significant improvements in his physical condition and continued to build muscle effectively. His personal commitment to fitness evolved into a professional platform where he champions the benefits and possibilities of veganism.
Delgado has achieved significant milestones in his bodybuilding career, including earning a Pro card with the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB). He actively challenges the misconception that vegans cannot build substantial muscle or are protein deficient, using his own physique as evidence. Beyond professional bodybuilding, Nimai extends his advocacy through a website, veganfitness.com, and hosts a podcast named “Generation V,” featuring discussions with plant-based athletes and advocates. He also organizes fitness and lifestyle retreats globally and appeared in the 2019 documentary “The Game Changers,” which explores the performance of plant-based athletes.
