Oscar Piastri

Born in Melbourne, Australia on April 6, 2001, Oscar Piastri’s journey into motorsport began with radio-controlled racing at age six, transitioning to karting at nine. His early commitment saw him move to Europe at 14 to further his racing career, which included winning several national karting championships in Australia. Supported by his family and later managed by nine-time Grand Prix winner Mark Webber, Piastri quickly rose through the junior ranks. He began his single-seater career at 15 in F4 UAE, demonstrating his potential with two podium finishes.

Piastri systematically climbed the junior single-seater ladder, securing a series of championship titles. He was the Formula Renault Eurocup champion in 2019, followed by the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2020, and the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2021. This made him the only driver in history to win Formula Renault, Formula Three, and Formula Two championships in successive seasons. His consistent success led him to become a reserve driver for Alpine, and then McLaren, making his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2023. In his rookie F1 season, he achieved two podiums, showcasing his adaptability and skill.

The 2024 season marked a significant turning point in Piastri’s career as he secured his maiden Grand Prix wins in Hungary and Azerbaijan, contributing to McLaren’s first Constructors’ title since 1998. In 2025, he continued his impressive trajectory with seven further victories and his first pole position at the Chinese Grand Prix, firmly establishing himself as a title contender. His composed demeanor and ability to learn quickly have earned him recognition from peers and critics, with a multi-year contract extension securing his place at McLaren until at least the end of the 2028 season.
