Pato O’Ward

Pato O’Ward is a successful racing driver competing in the IndyCar Series, currently driving for Arrow McLaren, and is part of the McLaren Driver Development Program, serving as a reserve driver for their Formula 1 team. After securing the 2017 Indy Lights championship with Andretti Autosport, winning nine of seventeen races and earning Rookie of the Year honors, Pato O’Ward immediately followed this success by becoming the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Champion. The same year, he earned a class win at the prestigious 12 Hours of Sebring and his first Rolex 24 At Daytona class win. O’Ward’s professional racing career began in karting in 2005, transitioning to open-wheel racing in 2013, competing in Latam Fórmula 2000, Formula Renault 1.6 NEC, and Pacific F2000.

Continuing his strong performance with Arrow McLaren in 2022, O’Ward achieved a victory at Barber and a second-place finish in the 106th Indianapolis 500, alongside his first short oval victory at Iowa and a second Rolex 24 At Daytona class win. The 2023 season saw him achieve three second-place finishes, culminating in a fourth-place standing in the championship. In 2024, O’Ward celebrated his most successful season to date, securing three wins at St. Petersburg, Mid-Ohio, and the Milwaukee Mile.

Currently driving for Arrow McLaren in the IndyCar Series, he is also a pivotal member of the McLaren Driver Development Program, serving as a reserve driver for their Formula 1 team, which included participation in a Formula 1 FP1 session in 2024. In the 2025 season, he has continued to demonstrate consistent performance, securing two wins and multiple podium finishes.
