Born on June 6, 1989, in Leominster, Massachusetts, Prince Amukamara later moved to Glendale, Arizona, where he attended Apollo High School. During his high school career, he excelled in both track and field and football, earning recognition as the “Big School Player of the Year” in Arizona. He committed to playing college football at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he became a key player for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 2007 to 2010. During his time at Nebraska, Amukamara achieved unanimous All-American honors in 2010 and was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He majored in political science, later earning a degree in sociology.
Amukamara’s professional career began when he was selected in the first round as the 19th overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2011 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he contributed to the Giants’ victory in Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots. Over his nine-season career in the National Football League, he also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2016), Chicago Bears (2017-2019), Las Vegas Raiders (2020), Arizona Cardinals (2020), and New Orleans Saints (2021). Throughout his career, he maintained a reputation as a reliable cornerback, accumulating 477 total tackles, 10 interceptions, and one defensive touchdown. His notable on-field moments include a pick-six against Russell Wilson in 2018 while with the Bears and consistent defensive plays.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Amukamara has been involved in community initiatives and brand collaborations.
