Powerhouse athlete Rony Gomes is a leading Brazilian skateboarder. He has famously taken on the X Games Big Air competition and is a master at lip tricks, spins and switch at great amplitude. Born in São Paulo and raised in the traditional neighbourhood of Mooca, Gomes nurtured a love of sport from a young age and signed with the local Corinthians football club. Gomes picked up his first board at nine years old, and he hasn’t put it down ever since. From there, he would begin the meteoric skateboarding career that now sees him competing all around the globe.
A national champion, hero and leader in the Brazilian Skate Confederation, Gomes continually pushes the boundaries of his sport. In his early career, Gomes won multiple Brazilian titles before dominating at the World Championship in 2009. Fresh from turning pro in 2010, Gomes quickly made a name for himself at the Rome World Cup and the Pro Rad, where he took home the silver from both competitions. A vert champion, Gomes claimed his first victory at the X Games back in 2013. From there, Gomes would take home the Brazil Cup of Vertical Skate.
Since his pro debut, Gomes has gone on to become one of the most sought after athletes in the game.
