The brilliant sportsman Sam Mikulak is a former artistic gymnast. He is a 3x Olympian, a 6x US national all-around champion, a 2x World Championships Bronze medalist, and a 9x NCAA campion. He has also won 12 medals at the Pacific Rim Championships (including five Golds), and four medals (two of them Gold) at the Pan American Games.
Born and raised in California, Mikulak started gymnastics at the age of two. He was a member of the Junior National team from 2007 to 2010, and won the all-around, floor exercise and vault titles at the 2010 Junior Olympic Nationals. He won Silver in the all-around three years in a row in the 14–15-year-old division at the 2007, 2008, and 2009 US National Championships, and won the Junior national all-around title in the 16-18-year-old division, as well as three more Golds, at the 2010 US National Championships.
Mikulak continued his athletics career while he attended the University of Michigan, going on to claim nine Golds, a Silver, and two Bronzes at the NCAA Championships, as well as becoming the university’s first male gymnast to be named to the US Olympic team. After competing in the 2012 London Olympics, between 2013 and 2016, he claimed four national titles, and was selected to represent his country once again at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In 2018 he claimed his fifth national title as well as his first world individual medal, winning Bronze on the horizontal bar at the World Championships. He claimed his sixth national title in 2019, and after a successful showing at the 2021 Winter Cup, he took part in his third Olympics at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
