SP Motorsports Professional Driver Sara Price joins the Can-Am family and is set to kick off her season at King of the Hammers on February 4th. On June 11, 2020, Chip Ganassi Racing announced Price would race with the team for the inaugural Extreme E season in 2021. She was the first confirmed driver for the series, and the first female racer in CGR's history.
Sara having a passion for all forms of racing decided to try her skills and take the opportunity in Powerboat Racing being signed on Will Smith’s Westbrook Racing team in the E1 Series: An Electric Hydrofoil Powerboat championship. Soon after, she got the team their first win at the Lake Como GP.
Sara Price, born on September 2, 1992, in Riverside, California, began her racing career at the age of eight, specializing in dirt bikes. Her early years in motocross were marked by significant achievements, including 19 amateur titles and a medal in Women’s Super X at the 2010 X-Games. She earned recognition as the most-winning female amateur in motocross to date and became the first female factory-supported motocross racer for Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing in 2010. This success established a strong foundation for her future endeavors in various racing disciplines. In 2012, Price transitioned to four-wheel racing, competing in UTVs. She participated in the WORCS series and Lucas Oil Regional Shortcourse Series. A notable milestone during this period was becoming part of the first American UTV team to compete in the Rallye Aïcha Des Gazelles in Morocco. She also achieved an undefeated record in the Terracross Championship, securing the Women’s Championship title in the same year. Her adaptability and competitive drive were evident as she excelled in these new formats.
Building on her diverse racing background, Price made her debut in the Stadium Super Trucks series in 2016 at the Honda Indy Toronto, becoming the first female driver to compete in the series. That same year, she was honored with the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Rising Star Award in the UTV, MX, and ATV categories. Her drive for new challenges led her to rally racing, where she competed in the 2015 Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles, finishing as the top rookie. In 2019, Price made history as the first female SCORE International Baja 1000 IronWoman, completing the entire race solo and finishing second in the trophy truck spec class. Her career progression further included joining Chip Ganassi Racing for the inaugural Extreme E season in 2021, where she became the team’s first female racer. In 2024, Price made her Dakar Rally debut in the SSV class, where she became the third female driver and first female American driver to win a Dakar stage, specifically Stage 10. She also received the Rookie Award, finishing fourth in her class. Beyond racing, Sara also diversified her career into entertainment, working as a stunt professional in film and television productions, including “Jumanji: The Next Level” and “The Grand Tour”. Most recently, she secured the first win for Will Smith’s Westbrook Racing team in the E1 Series Lake Como GP, an electric hydrofoil powerboat championship.
