Sarah Wayne-Callies is currently best known for her leading roles in two of the biggest and best American series of the century: Prison Break and The Walking Dead. She played Sara Tancredi in four seasons of the former and Lori Grimes in three of the latter. She has also played main or supporting roles in series such as Colony, Unspeakable, Council Dads, and Letterkenny. In 2023, she co-stars in ABC’s The Company You Keep. Her film work includes roles in The Show, Black November, and Whisper. She is incredibly popular on social media, with more than 2.1 million followers on Instagram.
Wayne-Callies was born in Illinois in June 1977 but grew up in Hawaii. She began acting at a young age, taking part in school, and later college productions, ultimately graduating from the National Theatre Conservatory in 2002. She moved to New York City to begin her professional career and quickly began landing roles. Her first starring role was as Detective Jane Porter in the WB series, Tarzan. In 2005, she got her big break when she was cast as prison doctor Sara Tancredi in Prison Break, which gained millions of viewers and won the People’s Choice Award for Favourite New TV Drama.
Following the success of Prison Break, Wayne-Callies’ next major role was as Lori Grimes, the wife of the central character in AMC’s horror series, The Walking Dead. Wayne-Callies won a Saturn Award nomination Best Actress on Television for the role, as the show became one of, if not the benchmark horror series of the decade.
