Super speedster Scott Dixon is a professional racing driver, who competes in the NTT IndyCar Series. He is a 6x IndyCar Champion, the 2008 Indy 500 winner, and a 3x overall winner and 1x class winner at the 24 Hours of Daytona. In 2009 he was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to motorsport.
Born in Australia and raised in New Zealand, Dixon grew up in a family of dirt-track racers. He began racing go-karts when he was seven-years-old, and caught the attention of the public when he was granted a competition licence to race saloon cars as a 13-year-old. A year later, in 1994, he won the New Zealand Formula Vee championship, and then the Formula Ford Class 2 series the following year. He then won the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship in 1996/97. He moved to the United States in 1999 to gain sponsorship to continue racing, and was signed to the Johansson Motorsports Indy Lights team, later taking the championship with the PacWest team in 2000. He then graduated to their full CART team in 2001, going on to win the Rookie of the Year trophy. He switched to the Indy Racing League in 2003, and went on to win the IndyCar Series title in 2003, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2020.
