Simon Mayo

Simon Mayo MBE is an award-winning radio presenter and author, known for his enduring career across BBC Radio and his engaging broadcast style. After quickly ascending to one of the most prestigious roles in UK radio, hosting the ‘Radio 1 Breakfast Show’ from 1988 to 1993, Simon Mayo went on to build a multi-award-winning career across British broadcasting and as a best-selling author. His extensive career with BBC Radio began in 1982 at BBC Radio Nottingham, leading to his national call-up to BBC Radio 1 in 1986. During his tenure on the ‘Radio 1 Breakfast Show,’ he developed popular segments such as ‘On This Day in History’ and ‘Confessions,’ which later inspired spin-off books.

Mayo’s ability to connect with audiences and champion unexpected music hits cemented his appeal. He continued to host the mid-morning slot on Radio 1 from 1993 until 2001.
