Sobhita Dhulipala was born on May 31, 1992, in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, India. Her early life included moving to Visakhapatnam at age three, where she attended Little Angels School and Visakha Valley School for her high school commerce studies. At sixteen, she moved to Mumbai independently and pursued corporate law at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, University of Mumbai. Dhulipala is also a classically trained dancer in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. Her early career saw her crowned Femina Miss India Earth 2013, representing India at Miss Earth 2013, where she earned several subtitles including Miss Photogenic and Miss Beauty for a Cause. She also featured in the 2014 Kingfisher Calendar, marking her early presence in the fashion industry.
Dhulipala made her acting debut in 2016 with the Hindi film “Raman Raghav 2.0,” which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and earned her a best supporting performance nomination. A significant turning point in her career was her role as Tara Khanna in the Amazon Prime Video series “Made in Heaven” (2019-2023), which brought her widespread recognition. She expanded her work into various regional Indian film industries, including Malayalam films like “Moothon” (2019) and “Kurup” (2021), Telugu films such as “Goodachari” (2018) and “Major” (2022), and Tamil epics “Ponniyin Selvan: I” (2022) and “Ponniyin Selvan: II” (2023). These projects achieved both commercial success and critical acclaim, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
Her career progression continued with leading roles in the crime thriller series “The Night Manager” (2023-2023), for which she received the ITA Award for Best Actress – Popular (OTT). In 2024, Dhulipala made her American cinema debut as Sita in Dev Patel’s directorial venture “Monkey Man.” Before this, she had auditioned for the role in 2019, and Patel personally informed her that she was perfect for the part.
