The Marías, an indie pop band, have gained recognition for their distinct blend of English and Spanish songs, incorporating elements of jazz, rock, and psychedelic soul. After the critically acclaimed release of their debut EP, Superclean Vol. I, in 2017, The Marías quickly established themselves as an innovative indie pop band, known for their distinct blend of English and Spanish songs that fuse elements of jazz, rock, and psychedelic soul. Composed of lead vocalist María Zardoya, drummer/producer Josh Conway, guitarist Jesse Perlman, and keyboardist Edward James, the band followed this success with Superclean Vol.
Building on this momentum, The Marías unveiled their second studio album, Submarine, on May 31, 2024. This release further cemented their artistic evolution and garnered substantial industry recognition. For 2025, the band secured multiple significant nominations, including an American Music Award for Favorite Rock Album for Submarine, a Billboard Latin Music Award for Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year Duo or Group, and a Premio Lo Nuestro for Best Pop Latin Fusion Song for ‘Lejos de Tí.’ The Marías also received three MTV Video Music Award nominations for Best New Artist, Best Group, and Best Alternative Video for ‘Back to Me,’ and notably won a Premios Juventud for Colaboración OMG for ‘Ojos Tristes.’
