Tyler Adams

Tyler Adams was born on February 14, 1999, in Wappingers Falls, New York. His early career began in 2012 when he joined the New York Red Bulls Academy. In 2015, at the age of 16, he signed with New York Red Bulls II, the club’s senior reserve team in the United Soccer League. He quickly progressed, making his debut for the New York Red Bulls first team in a friendly against Chelsea in July 2015, where he scored. He officially signed his first senior team contract in November 2015 and became a regular starter during the 2017 season, contributing to the team’s advancements in various competitions. He gained significant recognition for helping the club secure the 2018 MLS Supporters Shield.

In January 2019, Adams transferred to RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga. During his three-and-a-half seasons with the club, he made 75 Bundesliga appearances and became the first USMNT player to score in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals in August 2020. He also played a role in RB Leipzig winning the 2021-22 DFB Pokal title. In July 2022, Adams moved to England, joining Premier League club Leeds United for a reported transfer fee of $24 million. Following his time at Leeds, he signed with AFC Bournemouth in August 2023.

Internationally, Adams has represented the United States at various youth levels, including the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He earned his first senior cap for the US Men’s National Team in November 2017 and scored his first international goal against Mexico in September 2018. Adams captained the USMNT nine times before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he was also named captain. In January 2023, he was voted the 2022 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year, acknowledging his contributions to the national team’s performance, including their advancement to the knockout stages of the World Cup. He continues to be a key player for both club and country.
