United States Eric Bogosian is an American actor, playwright, monologuist, novelist, and historian, known for his impactful stage performances and versatile screen presence.

Eric Bogosian was born on April 24, 1953, in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Woburn. After graduating from Woburn Memorial High School in 1971, he attended the University of Chicago and later Oberlin College, graduating in 1976. He then moved to New York City, where he worked at The Kitchen, establishing a dance series before dedicating himself to theater. Between 1976 and 1982, Bogosian wrote, directed, and starred in over sixteen Off-Off-Broadway productions, developing a reputation for his intense one-man shows.
Bogosian gained broader recognition in the early 1980s for his one-man theater pieces, earning three Obie Awards and a Drama Desk Award. His Pulitzer-nominated play “Talk Radio” (1987), in which he also starred, was adapted into a film in 1988 by Oliver Stone, with Bogosian reprising his role and earning the Silver Bear at the 1989 Berlin Film Festival. Throughout the 1990s, he maintained a dual career in film and television, co-starring in “Under Siege 2: Dark Territory” (1995) and appearing in films by Woody Allen and Atom Egoyan. He also authored the play “subUrbia,” which was later adapted for film by Richard Linklater.
His career further diversified in the 2000s, with a significant role as Captain Danny Ross in “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (2006–2010), appearing in over sixty episodes. In 2010, Bogosian starred on Broadway in Donald Margulies’ “Time Stands Still.” He continued to expand his work into writing novels such as “Mall,” “Wasted Beauty,” and “Perforated Heart,” as well as the non-fiction book “Operation Nemesis: The Assassination Plot that Avenged the Armenian Genocide” (2015). More recently, he has held featured television roles on “The Get Down” (2016), “Billions” (2017–2021), and as Senator Gil Eavis on “Succession” (2018–2023), and Daniel Molloy in “Interview with the Vampire” (2022–present).
