Kaiya Ruiter is a Canadian figure skater who has achieved national titles and international medals, transitioning from junior to senior elite competition. After winning the 2019 Canadian novice national title and setting a new record with an impressive score of 139.57, Kaiya Ruiter quickly established herself as a rising talent in figure skating. Her international debut followed swiftly, securing a bronze medal at the 2019 Bavarian Open in the novice women’s event. Demonstrating rapid skill acquisition, Ruiter landed her first triple jump, a triple toe loop, in November 2018, mastering all triple jumps and triple-triple combinations within a year.
Ruiter’s career progressed seamlessly into the junior international circuit, debuting on the Junior Grand Prix (JGP) circuit during the 2019-20 season with competitions in Latvia and Italy. She significantly improved her performance, setting a Canadian junior record with 159.07 points. Her junior national success continued with a win at the 2020 Skate Canada Challenge, followed by claiming the 2020 Canadian Junior Championships title with 174.83 points. She solidified her international standing by winning gold at the Bavarian Open junior event.
Ruiter remains focused on her ambitious goals, including aspiring for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, and actively supports the Canadian athletic community through her involvement with the Atlos Fund.
