Mark Jay Anderson, born on May 26, 1983, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, established himself as a prominent American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). His collegiate career at the University of Alabama (2001–2005) saw him develop into a key defensive player, starting 30 of 50 games and earning second-team All-Southeastern Conference accolades in his senior year. During his time at Alabama, he recorded 141 tackles, 13.5 sacks, and 25 tackles for loss, demonstrating his consistent performance and impact.
Anderson was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL draft. He quickly made an impression, setting a Chicago Bears rookie record with 12 sacks in his inaugural season and contributing significantly to the team’s postseason run, including playing in Super Bowl XLI. His career included stints with the Houston Texans (2010), where he reunited with college teammate DeMeco Ryans, and the New England Patriots (2011), where he experienced a rebound season with 10 sacks and played in Super Bowl XLVI. In 2012, he signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo Bills, though his playing career was cut short by a season-ending knee injury.
