Melissa Humana-Paredes is a female Canadian beach volleyball player who plays as a left-side defender. She is partnered with Sarah Pavan and together the pair won the women’s gold medal at the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships
In 2011, Humana-Paredes and her partner Victoria Altomare won a silver medal at the FIVB Beach Volleyball Under-21 World Championships. She also won the bronze medal at the World Under-23 World Championships with Taylor Pischke. In 2015 the International Federation of Volleyball named Humana-Paredes the top female rookie.
In late 2016, Melissa Humana-Paredes partnered with Pavan and achieved initial success during the 2017 FIVB season; winning bronze medals at the Gstaad Major, silver at both the Olsztyn and Rio de Janeiro Opens, and gold medals at the Porec Major. Pavan and Humana-Paredes experienced continued international success in 2018, defeating Australia in the gold medal match at the Commonwealth Games. The diligent duo went on to win gold medals at both the Gstaad Major and the Xiamen Open.
In the team’s first AVP competition of 2019, they defeated America’s April Ross and Alix Klineman, finishing 2nd place. Just two months later at the Beach Volleyball World Championships, Humana-Paredes and Pavan won more gold medals, acquiring Canada’s first ever medal for the event. The unstoppable pair continued to excel at the FIVB in 2019, winning further gold medals at both the Vienna Major and the Edmonton Open.
