About

Robert Scoble was born on January 18, 1965, in Piscataway, New Jersey, and grew up near Apple Computer’s head office in Silicon Valley. He attended San Jose State University, studying journalism and mass communications, although he left before completing his degree in 1993. His career in technology media began in 1993. Scoble gained significant recognition as a tech blogger starting in 2000. In June 2003, he accepted a position at Microsoft as a technology evangelist, a role in which he co-created the Channel 9 video blog and community, making Microsoft appear more accessible to independent software developers. This period brought his blog, Scobleizer, to prominence.

In June 2006, Scoble transitioned from Microsoft to Podtech.net, taking on the role of Vice President of Media Development. He later joined Fast Company in January 2008, where he launched FastCompany.tv in March 2008, featuring shows like FastCompany Live and ScobleizerTV, which were produced using high-definition equipment. In March 2009, Scoble moved to Rackspace, serving as their futurist for six years. During his tenure at Rackspace, he collaborated on the development of Building 43, a platform dedicated to fostering new startups and promoting groundbreaking technology, which was later rebranded as Small Teams, Big Impact in 2012. He interviewed numerous technologists and entrepreneurs during this time, focusing on future trends.

Following his time at Rackspace, Scoble became an Entrepreneur in Residence at UploadVR in 2016, where he and Shel Israel incubated Transformation Group. He co-authored several books, including “Naked Conversations: How Blogs are Changing the Way Businesses Talk with Customers” (2006), “Age of Context: Mobile, Sensors, Data and the Future of Privacy” (2013), “The Fourth Transformation: How Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence Change Everything” (2016), and “The Infinite Retina” (2020). Scoble has been a keynote speaker at various events, including the Telstra Australian Digital Summit in 2013.
