Seamus Power was born on March 4, 1987, in Waterford, Ireland. He began playing golf at West Waterford Golf Club at the age of 12. His early life was marked by the loss of his mother at age eight, and his father, Ned, worked diligently to support Power’s junior golf endeavors. Power attended East Tennessee State University, where he excelled in collegiate golf, securing five victories, including the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in both 2007 and 2010. During his amateur career, he also won the Irish Youth Championship twice, in 2005 and again in 2007.
Power turned professional in 2011, initially competing on mini-tours like the eGolf Professional Tour. He achieved four victories on the eGolf Professional Tour in 2012 and 2014, including the River Run Classic and Southern Open. His performance allowed him to earn his Web.com Tour card for 2015. On the Web.com Tour, he secured his first win at the United Leasing & Finance Championship in May 2016, becoming the first Irish player to win on that tour. Later in 2016, Power represented Ireland at the Summer Olympics, an important career milestone.
His PGA Tour career began in 2017. Power secured his first PGA Tour victory at the Barbasol Championship in July 2021, winning in a six-hole playoff. This win made him the fifth player from the Republic of Ireland to win a PGA Tour event. He continued his success by winning his second PGA Tour event, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, in October 2022. Power also made headlines at the 2023 Masters Tournament by recording back-to-back holes-in-one in the Par 3 Contest. Throughout his career, he has achieved 20 Top 10 finishes and 9 Top 5 finishes on the PGA Tour, earning over $14 million in official money.
