Stephen Roger Bruce is an accomplished English football manager and former professional player, currently serving as the head coach of EFL League One club Blackpool. Bruce’s playing career spanned two decades, during which he made a significant impact as a centre-back. He began his professional journey at Gillingham, where he played over 200 matches before moving to Norwich City, winning the League Cup in 1985. His most notable tenure was at Manchester United, where he captained the team to numerous victories, including three Premier League titles and the European Cup Winners’ Cup, solidifying his reputation as one of the best defenders of his era.
Transitioning into management, Bruce started with Sheffield United and had brief stints at Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, and Crystal Palace. His successful period at Birmingham City saw him lead the team to two promotions to the Premier League. After a second spell at Wigan, he took charge of Sunderland, where he reshaped the squad and secured a mid-table finish in the Premier League.
