Petrolhead Yuki Tsunoda is a professional racing driver, who currently competes in Formula 1 for Scuderia AlphaTauri. He made his Formula 1 debut in 2021, and prior to that he was the 2018 Japanese F4 champion.
Born and raised in Sagamihara, Japan, Tsunoda began racing go-karts at the age of four, and the following year he won the 2005 series championship at Nakai Inter-Circuit. He started his professional karting career in 2010, and after graduating from Honda’s Suzuka Circuit Racing School in 2016, he joined the advanced formula class and became a member of the Honda Formula Dream Project. He made his single-seater debut in the F4 Japanese Championship the same year.
Tsunoda moved on to competing in the FIA Formula 3 Championship at the end of 2018, and then at the beginning of 2020 started to race in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. After taking three wins, four pole positions, seven podiums and finishing 3rd in the championship, it was announced in August that he would be driving for the Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda Formula 1 team in the end-of-season rookie test. For the 2021 season he was partnered with Pierre Gasly, making his debut in the Bahrain Grand Prix.
