Petter Hornfeldt – better known as Mentour Pilot – is an airline captain turned YouTube Star. The social media sensation began his social media journey in 2015 when he decided to start his own YouTube channel – Mentour Pilot – after he couldn’t find any good, positive, constructive and unbiased content about aviation online. His channel’s subscriber count soon exploded to 1.15 million and his videos have been viewed more than 182 million times. His channel has become a new highlight of his career and has allowed him to connect with passionate aviation fans from around the globe. Hornfeldt is one of the founders of The Airline Pilot Club, which teaches future pilots, and also works for a major European airline.
Hornfeldt hails from the small village of Billsjö in northern Sweden, and was first bitten by the aviation bug when he was 14 after his father acquired a Private Pilot License. After tagging along on his father’s flying trips, he was given a test-lesson in a Cessna 172 for his birthday and loved the experience so much that he decided to become a pilot. After many years of hard work and training the star pilot worked as a first officer at Stansted for almost 3 years learning from skilled captains, and after his time there he was chosen to train to become a SFI (Synthetic Flight Instructor) and launched his long career as an instructor on the 737 where he continues to work today. In 2015 he launched his YouTube channel Mentour Pilot and the rest is history.
In addition to his channel, Hornfeldt has created his own website, VR applications and social media applications, and his goal for the future is to build the greatest global aviation hub where anyone interested in aviation can get feedback from other aviation enthusiasts or professionals.
