Adam Deacon is an English film actor, rapper, writer and director who is most recognisable from his lead role in the high profile films Kidulthood and Adulthood, as well as for his impressive directorial debut, Anuvahood. Adam was raised by his mother in Hackney, North East London and his acting career began early, at the age of 12, with guest appearances in Bill’s New Frock, Shooters, Ali G Indahouse and The Bill. He also starred in an ITV drama in 2004, Wall of Silence, but it was the Kidulthood film series that really gave him his big break.
Impressing hugely with his acting in those films, he has since worked with director Noel Clarke a number of times and his own film, Anuvahood, led to him receiving the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2012. The film pulled no punches and was a real, raw coming of age story set in an urban environment. Often cited as a new young face of cinema, Deacon has co-hosted the MOBO Awards before now, as well as appearing in Bonded by Blood, Jack Falls, Shank, Everywhere and Nowhere and Payback Season amongst others. Adam Deacon continues to work on new film and television projects and is soon to appear in Danny Boyle’s eagerly awaited Channel 4 comedy-drama ‘Babylon’. As such, he is an exciting and vibrant young talent who inspires young and aspiring creatives with his achievements.
