Hip-hop artist Kebba first made waves with his innovative lyrics and witty wordplay before swapping music for screenplay writing and fashion. The multi-talented artist sold units in both the US and overseas, releasing numerous projects including Junk Food and Veggies, M Y World, @iamkebba, the Mixtape, The Lost Weeks, The Stuff Legends Are Made Of, The dearwhitepeople Mixtape and The Sample Plate EP. Fusing sincere, unrivalled originality with his life experiences through his music, Kebba cleverly used his unique name – which means leader in the West African Wolof dialect – as a brand by wearing hats with his name on them. A buzz soon surrounded the talented artist as people began to question who he was, and they also began to steal his hats. Sensing a business opportunity,
Kebba began to sell his hats as merchandise and has now built a fully-fledged apparel business.
Kebba grew up in Harlem, and wrote his first verse in high school. He didn’t touch music again until he was in college at Temple University, where he began making hundreds of songs and writing thousands of verses as he perfected his craft and tried to break into the music business as a rapper. His pursuit of a music career took him to Atlanta, where he first began to use his name as a marketing tool. Years later his brand now also sells hats, clothing for kids, sweatshirts and much more, and Kebba enjoyed a huge boom in sales during the pandemic. Although music will always have a place in his heart, he has now left the industry and become a full time screenplay writer in addition to running his successful clothing business.
