Kur is an emerging rapper who achieved over 100 million independent streams before landing a deal with Dream Chasers in partnership with Roc Nation and Republic Records. His first album for Dream Chasers was Loyal to a Fault, which came out in 2022 and featured tracks like ‘Love’, ‘Hermes Sandals’, and ‘Clutch’. His other major tunes include ‘Sheist’ and ‘For my Fam’, both of which have been streamed over a million times on YouTube. He’s got an ever-growing online presence and currently has over 350,000 followers over various platforms.
Kur (pronounced “cure”) was born Chauncey Ellison in Philadelphia, a city he remains strongly connected to and influenced by. He dropped his first mixtape, Straight from the Kur, as he left high school in 2012. He followed it up with Straight from the Kur 2 and a stream of self-released singles, one of which won the support of fellow Philly-ite and Dream Chasers founder Meek Mill. This led to 2015’s breakthrough mixtape, How It Never Was, which in turn led to Kur signing with Entertainment One.
Kur’s career began to make steady progess as his reputation began to spread way beyond Philly thanks to mixtapes and albums such as 180, Shakur, and Spare Me. His deal with Dream Chasers promised to push his career even further, and his first singles for the label, as well as Loyal to a Fault, all became his most successful material to date.
