Australian actor, writer, and comedian Jackson Tozer got his television breakthrough in 2014 when he was chosen to join the cast of ABC’s sketch show This is Littleton as both an actor and writer. Since then, his career has gone from strength to strength, with roles in acclaimed television comedy series and multi-award-winning films.
Among Tozer’s most recent screen credits are Secret Bridesmaids’ Business, Rostered On, Mr Inbetween and Five Bedrooms. His starring role as Jackson in the 2015 short film Pint won him no fewer than eight Best Actor awards at film festivals in Australia and the USA. He has also won awards for his screenwriting work on films such as Dead Sharks and To Have and Withhold.
Tozer hails from the city of Portland in Victoria. He always harboured a desire to become a professional actor and writer, and so after graduating from the town’s Bayview College, he relocated east to Melbourne to continue his training and break into the industry. Along with a couple of colleagues, he also co-founded a short film collective called Unit 12 Films, which have been behind numerous successful shorts. After a few television small roles, Tozer finally reached a wider audience with This is Littleton. Since then, he has never been short of work or good reviews.
In 2015, he joined the cast of Shaun Micallef’s comedy The Ex-PM, and in 2018, he appeared in several episodes of award-nominated drama Mr Inbetween, which also aired in America. He got further airtime in the States with a role in AMC fantasy drama Preacher. In 2020, he wrote, directed, and appeared in a new short film, Divorce.
