Comedy

Mike Lawrence, born in 1983 in Miami, Florida, is best known for being a comedian and comedic writer. Despite being born in Miami, he moved to New York and currently lives in Los Angeles. He studied at Florida Atlantic University eventually attaining a degree in English. Whilst he was in High School, he spent time working at McDonald’s, which is where Lawrence said he inherited his ability to ‘deal with hecklers’. In a statement, Lawrence was quoted as saying “Heckling doesn’t bother me because I’ve been yelled at for McNuggets”.

Lawrence started performing at open mic nights when he was just 15, and this where he found that he took the most enjoyment out of making people laugh. He burst onto the scene in 2010 when he was mentioned at one of the largest comedy festivals in the world, Just for Laughs, as one of the new faces. 2 years later he would end up performing at the festival twice, both in Montreal, Canada, and Chicago, United States. Whilst he was in Montreal, Lawrence also went on to record a comedy set for HBO Canada’s ‘Funny as Hell’.

As well as being a comedian Lawrence also runs his podcasts, co-hosting the ‘Nerd of Mouth’ podcast with Jack Young. Typical topics that are discussed on the podcast include games, movies and TV shows. Away from his career, Lawrence has one brother and one sister and got married in 2014 to Adina Pilskin. Currently, they both live together in Los Angeles, having formerly resided in New York.
