Lebanese – American stand-up comedian, Nemr Abou Nassar performs stand-up all over the world; from Europe and the US all the way to the Middle East. He has written and performed in many feature shows and completed a world tour across many major cities.
In 2006, following the Lebanon War, Nassar began practicing comedy. The war was a catalyst for him to spread art and love through his country after a time of deep despair and he set his missions on diverting away from the countries past tragedies. Where Nassar came from, comedy clubs and open mic nights were non-existent; it was he who brought this concept to his region. His slogan ‘No politics No Religion One Love’ was heavily incorporated into all of his shows as he became strongly focussed on connecting audiences through comedy.
2017 saw the release of Nassar’s brand new, innovative comedy show: No Bombing in Beirut, which premiered across the US on Showtime, Canada on Crave TV and The Movie Network. Nassar aimed to demonstrate the similarities of people from different cultures and throughout the show; he repeatedly cut back and forth between two sets of audiences at opposite sides of the world. Both crowds laughed at the same time and the same material; and both shows could have easily been mistaken as one. In Nassar’s eyes, this was proof that the human race has so much more in common than meets the eye.
