Grammy award-winning Broadway star Leslie Odom, Jr. is an American actor and singer who rose to fame playing Aaron Burr in the hit musical Hamilton. Odom won a prestigious Tony award for Lead Actor in A Musical in 2016 for his part in the blockbuster hit show, and also won a Grammy as the principal soloist on the Original Broadway Cast Recording. The multi-faceted performer has also made his name as a television star famous for starring in Law & Order: SVU and Smash, with numerous other credits including Grey’s Anatomy, Vanished, CSI: Miami, Gotham, Person of Interest and House of Lies. He has also starred on the big screen in the movie Red Tails opposite Cuba Gooding Jr and in Murder on the Orient Express, One Night in Miami and Harriet.
Born in New York City, Odom was raised in Philadelphia and made his Broadway debut when he was just 17 in the musical Rent before attending Carnegie Mellon University’s famous School of Drama. After moving to LA to pursue his acting career he spent much of his time doing theatre, including Leap Of Faith which moved to Broadway whilst he Odom was starring in the show as Isaiah Sturdevant. After the show closed Odom relocated to New York, and in 2015 he landed the lead role of Aaron Burr in the off-Broadway production of smash hit musical Hamilton. He continued in the role after the show transferred to Broadway, picking up a Tony Award for his breath-taking portrayal.
Since leaving Hamilton in 2016 Odom has rarely been out of work, appearing in numerous television, film and stage roles. Also a successful recording artist, his eponymous release Leslie Odom Jr. smashed into the Billboard Jazz chart at No. 1.
