Jason Gunnlaugson is a prominent Canadian curler based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, known for his exceptional skills and competitive spirit in the sport. His curling journey began in Beausejour, Manitoba, where he took over the reins of Daley Peters’s team in 2009. Under his leadership, the team made a remarkable run, qualifying for the 2009 Olympic Pre-Trials and surprising many by advancing to the main Olympic trials, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.

In 2010, Gunnlaugson gained international attention when he was hired by the Russian Curling Federation to represent Russia at the 2014 Winter Olympics. This opportunity highlighted his talent and adaptability, as he successfully led his team to victory at the Russian Men’s Curling Cup later that year. Although the arrangement with the Russian Federation ended, it underscored his competitive prowess and commitment to the sport.

After relocating to British Columbia, Gunnlaugson teamed up with Jim Cotter for the 2012-13 season, achieving significant success by winning the 2012 Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic. His return to Manitoba in 2014 saw him join the William Lyburn rink, where he contributed to their MCT Championships victory and a strong showing at the 2016 Manitoba provincial men’s championship.
