Stay-at-home Dad Kevin Schlehuber first endeared himself to the American public in 2017 when he starred in the 19th season of Big Brother on CBS. Of the 17 contestants who took part, Schlehuber made the final four, lasting 86 days in the Big Brother house. The following year, Schlehuber was diagnosed with prostate cancer, an illness he survived and has since used his celebrity status to raise awareness of.
Schlehuber hails from Mission Hill, a small and assuming area of Boston, Massachusetts. He is a father of seven children and, when, he entered the Big Brother house in June 2017, he quickly endeared himself to his housemates and the millions-strong viewing public for his friendly nature and his habit of forgetting people’s names. Despite confrontations with other housemates as the series progressed (including with one former ally who, bizarrely, became convinced Schlehuber was an undercover police officer), he remained in the house until the final days of the competition, narrowly missing out on a place in the top three.
Since leaving the house, Schlehuber has built a formidable social media presence, with over 190,000 Instagram followers (and a whole host of fan pages) and he is noted for travelling hundreds of miles across the States to meet them. As a prostate cancer survivor, he has become a strong advocate for cancer awareness, joining the non-profit Zero Prostate Cancer group and being awarded the 2019 Hero of Hope Award by the International Pain Foundation for his tireless efforts in encouraging men to talk about cancer and get regular check-ups.
