American hockey player Nicole Woods is part of the US national team, as well as the Northeast Elite Field Hockey team.
As a child, Woods trained in both field hockey and ice hockey, eventually choosing to play field hockey full time. Her choice paid off, and in 2014 she was named to the USA Under 19 Women’s National Team for the first time. She joined the University of Louisville as a key part of their team, being named on the All-ACC Academic Team Section and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll multiple times during her time there. She also continued to play for Team USA, joining the Under 21 team in 2016 and playing in the 2016 Junior Pan American Cup in Trinidad and Tobago. She went on to qualify for the 2016 Junior World Cup, making her senior debut with the team a year later and playing in the Pan American Cup for the first time where they took a bronze medal. The 2017 World League Semifinals also saw the team put in a medal winning performance, with Woods taking home a gold medal.
That was only the start for this exceptional player, and Woods has since gone on to make appearances at the 2018 Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup and the 2019 FIH Pro League. She still has many more years of professional field hockey ahead of her, and is a highly respected player having recently signed a sponsorship deal with sports brand Grays.
