Tim Murphy is an award-winning Irish actor best known for his performances as Galen O’Shay in FX’s Golden Globe-winning series Sons of Anarchy and as Fritz in Disney’s The Lone Ranger. The distinguished performer has guest-starred in several hit television series since he first rose to prominence in the mid-2000s.
Born in County Kerry, Murphy trained at the respected Focus Theatre in Dublin. Prior to moving to Los Angeles to pursue a professional career in acting, Murphy obtained a degree in Law and Accounting from University College Cork.
In his three-decade spanning career, Murphy has appeared in dozens of popular television shows, including as Ian Doyle in Criminal Minds, Qinn in Nip/Tuck, Schaeffer in 24, Isaak in NCIS, Byron in Grace and Frankie, Osip in True Detective, Father Ruskin in The Bastard Executioner, Coughlin in Westworld, Gram in Damnation, Conor in Quantico, Commander Grey in Shadowpiercer and Logan in L.A.’s Finest. For his work on Sons of Anarchy, Murphy was named 2013 BuzzFocus Readers Choice Award’s Best Villain in American Television.
A popular film actor, Murphy has starred as Constantine in MacGruber, Vince in Appaloosa, Seth in National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Finneas Patrick O’Neill in Not That Funny, Agent Williams in Road to Paloma, and Frtiz in the Oscar-nominated The Lone Ranger.
Murphy is also a talented stage actor and has gained recognition for his role in Martin McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane, for which he was nominated for an Ovation Award for Best Actor. Additional productions include The Lost Plays of Tennessee Williams, Happy End, Stones in his Pockets and Agamemnon. Today, Murphy continues to dominate his industry and has several movies currently in production, including the Bruce Willis-led Anti-Life and New Year, in which Murphy stars as the main character.
